This workshop is designed to provide an in-depth, hands-on learning experience covering all the primary aspects of additive manufacturing (3D Printing).
Duration of the workshop: One day.
What you will learn:
- Fundamentals of different 3D Printing technologies, including FDM, SLS, SLA, DLP.
- Fundamentals of 3DP materials and their applications, including composites, resins and powders.
- Fundamentals of slicing software for print preparation and orientation.
- Fundamentals of 3D printer operation.
- Fundamentals of design for 3D Printing.
- Fundamentals of 3D scanning for object capture and re-engineering.
- Review of some of the primary applications, specialized applications and emerging or future applications of Additive Manufacturing.
- Special topics of interest to the workshop.
- Participants, for example demonstration of remote 3D printing and networking.
Each participant will have access to a dedicated desktop personal 3D printer.
Each participant will have the opportunity to design their own object using basic CAD software and print that object during the program.
The workshop is designed for professional groups, however no prior experience with 3D printing is required.

Advanced 3D Printing Workshop for Professional Organizations

This workshop is custom designed for the needs of your professional group. The advanced session focuses on exploring specific aspects of additive manufacturing at a detailed level. Completion of either the 3DP Workshop for Professionals or the basic workshop “From Idea to Object” is a pre-requisite. This advanced workshop is designed to provide additional in-depth, hands-on exploration of 3D printing, scanning and design tailored to a particular audience.
What you will learn:
- Design principles for 3D Printing.
- Operation of 3D printers for specific applications (e.g., architecture, engineering, logistics, medical, etc.).
- Hands-on use of 3D scanners and end-to-end processing of a 3D scan.
- Configuring 3D printing centers for remote 3D printing and network administration.
- Other specialized topics of interest to participants.
